CHOBE CAMPING SAFARI
Trip Overview
Trip commences at 0730 as Travelers are picked up from their respective hotels and lodges around Victoria Falls. Transfer from Victoria falls to the Kazungula border post takes about 1 hour. Travellers will be taken straight to commence their safari activities at 0930. Travelers will commence with either a 3 hour boat cruise or jeep safari into the Chobe National park. The river cruise is considered one of the highlights of the trip, as one gets the opportunity to get up close and personal with fantastic bird-life, hippos, crocodiles. Scores of elephant and Cape buffalo that make their way down to the river to quench their thirst are also observed. The first activity ends at around 1230 as travelers will take on buffet lunch at Chobe Safari Lodge. After buffet lunch, travelers then depart on an afternoon game drive or boat cruise. This is the best time to see Chobe’s large herbivores making their way down to the river to drink. Travelers arrive in camp shortly after sunset for drinks around the camp fire and dinner under the stars.
Travelers are warmed with a quick cup of tea or coffee and vehicles head off on an early morning game drive. This time of day is best for finding the big cats and rare Wild Dogs still active at this time. Around late morning guests return to camp for a “bush brunch” and getting opportunity to rest or take refreshing shower. When the day cools off, another afternoon game drive commences and good sightings unexplored areas are visited. Chobe National Park has a wide variety of game – the cats and large herbivores such as elephant and buffalo being a highlight, but rarer game such as Puku, Eland, Sable and Roan antelope along with many more common antelope can be viewed here. Return to camp after sunset for a reflective fireside chat. Dinner follows, as always accompanied by the unforgettable sounds of the African night.
NB:Overnight Travelers are awakened with a quick cup of tea or coffee and some cereal head off on an early morning game drive. This will be a roundup trip with the big cats the majority to be encountered as they will be still active. The trip will end with clients being dropped off at Kazungula around 0900 and transferred back to Victoria Falls.
